ELASTOMERS BOOTS THE BOOZE FOR DRY JULY

Elastomers Australia Business Solutions Manager Jason Clifford stepped up to the challenge of ditching the booze in July to raise money for people affected by cancer.

Jason says the opportunity to raise funds had special meaning as he has felt the impacts of cancer, seeing members of his family and work colleagues battling the disease..

It is a cause that obviously hit a chord with others, as Jason was able to raise more than $5,200, with many of the donations coming from the Elastomers Australia team, customers and suppliers.

“The support from family and friends was also very generous,” Jason said.

Jason admits while he was devoted to the cause, there were certainly times he thought he might falter.

“The first two and a half weeks were a breeze, then it got harder and the motivation dropped off,” he said.

“There were plenty of times I was tempted to reach out for a cheeky beer in social situations but in the end, sticking to my word was worth it and something I am proud of.”

Encouraging and supporting staff with fundraising activities is a key part of the Elastomers Australia culture. That ranges from supporting team members who may have a personal connection to a cause, providing support for the communities in which the company works, or jumping behind larger issues that can impact broader society.
