A Career Built on Strong Foundations
Scott’s journey with Elastomers Australia began in 2011, when he joined the company part-time. At the time, Scott was working as a financial controller for another accounting firm. It wasn’t long before Scott made the transition to full-time with Elastomers Australia in 2012, taking on the role of Financial Controller. His responsibilities included managing the month-end finance processes, budgeting, and overseeing stock reviews.
His passion for accounting began much earlier, however. Scott’s interest in business and finance can be traced back to his school years, where he won several accounting awards. This passion led him to pursue a Commerce degree, majoring in accounting, at Melbourne University in 1996.
In 2012, Scott transitioned to managing the finance team at Elastomers Australia. By 2015, Scott expanded his role to include managing the legal aspects of customer contracts, relationships, and operations, while still overseeing the growing finance team. Today, Scott continues to drive strategic initiatives within the Commercial team, helping customers achieve their objectives through tailored screening solutions and ensuring operational excellence across the board.
Beyond Elastomers Australia: A Passion for Community
Outside of his professional life at Elastomers, Scott is deeply involved in his family and community. A proud father of three children – a daughter and two sons – Scott dedicates much of his time to coaching their basketball teams and serving as a trainer for their football club. However, he’s quick to point out that dance classes with his daughter are entrusted to his wife, Jacqui.
Scott’s long-standing involvement with Australian Rules Football (AFL) dates back to his youth. He began umpiring at just 13 years old, earning $20 per game along with a pie and a Coke after each match. His umpiring journey progressed from reserves games to the Victorian Football League (VFL), and ultimately, to the AFL, where he umpired over 260 games between 1996 and 2010. After retiring from on-field duties, Scott shifted to coaching, taking on the role of match day coach for AFL boundary umpires from 2010 to 2023. In 2024, he transitioned to state coaching, where he continues to mentor and develop the next generation of AFL umpires.
A Commitment to Personal Growth and Work-Life Balance
When he’s not busy with his family or AFL commitments, Scott enjoys running and catching up with friends. He values the work-life balance that Elastomers Australia provides and appreciates the variety and flexibility that his role offers. For Scott one of the highlights of his career at Elastomers Australia has been witnessing the company’s significant growth. From the formation of the Commercial team to the relocation from 35 to 34 McIntosh Street, and now to Rex Road, Campbellfield. Another major milestone was Elastomers Australia’s successful tender for BHP, which marked a turning point in the company’s trajectory.
